The Damnation Project

“The Damnation Project” is a band, originally formed in Athens in 2009 from Agathocles Bakaros (drums), Ioannis Kakanis (keyboards), Ioannis Degdekis (guitars – vocals) and Michael Katsaros (bass). In January 2010 they released their first demo, which earned very good reviews, by Greek Metal Hammer, and other sites such as: Rocking.gr, Rockway.gr, etc. They began performing in June of 2010 and preparing 30 tracks in preproduction stage.

In December 2010, singer, and guitarist, Ioannis Degdekis, moves to Kavala, a city in North Greece, 700km away from the other members, and hires as a bassist, George Polyzos. In May 2012, their homonymous debut album is released, by the French label Musea Records. After the release, Stavros Goulidis took Agathocles’ place in drums.

In 2013, the band stop performing in Athens and formed from scratch by Degdekis and new members, in Kavala city. After that, Ioannis recorded, basically, solo, the second album. 8 new tracks, by the title “Smyrna”, were release by the new Greek label “Records on Top”. The new album of the band, which is now formed by Ioannis Degdekis (guitars – vocals), Manos Skaramankas (keyboards), George Melitos (bass) and Vassilis Gantzios (drums), was released in December of 2014 in all electronic platforms and just after that, in cd format.

The band recorded in 2015, at Nemesis Studio, Kavala, Greece, and released independently in 2016, its 3rd album, “Reflections”, which earns great reviews from Greek and international media and websites. It was chosen by “Lifo” (a famous cultural site and magazine in Greece) as one of the best 8 albums of 2016 and characterized as a “masterpiece” (9/10) from Greek Metal Hammer. The band unfortunately performs for the last time in May 2015 and after that gets into an inner face because of lack of time of its creator.

Between 2017 – 2018, 12 new songs are recorded, which don’t get public until early 2022. The extra free time because of covid – 19 quarantine, gives the opportunity to leader of the band, to finally, record and mix vocals for the new songs, and without any delay, schedule their release, in an album, called, “4”. 2 first singles of the album have already released, the post rock 8 minute experimental “I Can See You”, and the radio, 3-minute, pure rock track “Woman”, and it’s been expected, at least one more single before the release of the full-length album. Band members, which at the moment are Dimitris Papaioannou (drums), Theodoros Chrysanthidis (bass), together with older members, Manos Skaramankas (keyboard) and Ioannis Degdekis (guitars – vocals) are getting ready to perform live from this summer.

Andre Silva’s guitars and all Michel Villares’ hateful vocals present in the original version gave way to more melodic and clearer guitars and voices, overflowing proportional doses of energy, feeling and melody in a totally involving climate

Greetings from Carakistan

4to Reich
