“Dirty, fun, and caked in garage grime, the songs are unconcerned with trends.” -Bob Gendron, Chicago Tribune INTHEWHALE have been turning heads and accumulating a mass of diehard fans and followers thanks to a relentless tour schedule and an explosive live performance. Artists and festival promoters have caught notice, with the band playing Riot Fest, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Afro Punk, as well as shows with Jane’s Addiction, Descendents, The Offspring, Gogol Bordello and many more. The band celebrated their seven-year anniversary in 2018 with “Dopamine,” a six track EP produced by Steve Evetts (The Used, Sepultura, Dillinger Escape Plan) and recorded at the Foo Fighters’ famed Studio 606. “Parker Shogren is a Florida-based singer, songwriter, and performer, whose powerful live shows have already seen crowds in the thousands and drawn comparisons to the likes of Memphis May Fire and Asking Alexandria. His latest single, Death Sentence, has seen rock radio airplay nationwide, and features the talents of Gold Record rock producer Machine (Fall Out Boy, Lamb of God), guitar tone-god Phil Pluskota (Signs of the Swarm, Scumfuck), and metal vocal legend Jason Wisdom (Becoming the Archetype). But, for Shogren, this is music with a mission. “This song is about realizing that you are not under a death sentence from wrong decisions,” says Parker, who, as a teacher, sees the impact that hopelessness can have on young people. “Death Sentence” is available now on all streaming platforms.”

Main songwriter Simon Unknowne said, “It’s an interesting fit now to have two lead guitarists whose styles both work well with the band but are in stark contrast to each other in terms of their playing styles” The new track and novella will download free from the band’s Facebook page, as well as being available on all digital platforms. With a slightly old school feel and an odd jazzy riff this track is quite a groovy little departure and as always, the band stick with their style of not following trends or tying themselves to any particular style, choosing to do their own thing and stay unique. The band feel they are only just getting started on their way up and promise that there are loads more great music in store! Vocalist Jekyll Jones stated, “It was great to become friends with David after first meeting through a Soilwork interview and we became friends over time, and he soon joined as a permanent member and the addition of Rick is awesome as I actually learned to sing extreme vocals to a cassette tape of Death ‘s “Leprosy” and “Spiritual healing” albums back when I was a teenager!” “I also decided it would be great to get some well-known metal celebrities to do the zombie voices, for which I am very grateful for everyone getting involved with the track!”
From Ottawa Metal ’80s – ’90s by Randy Chase.“When I was 15-16, one of my first “bands” was the kind where you’ve got a band logo drawn before you even have a song. We were called Assassin–just me on drums and Darcy on guitar. He was the first guitarist I ever knew who played real METAL guitar. Impressed the hell out of me. We jammed only a few times, and that was all for Assassin. All that remains is the logo (in a box somewhere). Darcy Rawlins went on to form Fetus Aftermath in 1991. By the end of the 1990s, his band released two demo tapes (1994, 1995) and an album called ‘Everything Disgusting And Vile’ (1999). Here’s a track from the first Fetus Aftermath demo: http://goo.gl/ZZ1ACY. And a later (but still young) photo of Darcy from the Fetus Aftermath MySpace page ( https://myspace.com/fetusaftermath/). — RC“ FETUS AFTERMATH: “THE ALTER” DEMO (1994)“We never had the grander look of things, or else we wouldn’t have called the band what it was,” said Darcy Rawlins of his band, Fetus Aftermath, on a recent radio interview with CKCU’s ‘Meltdown.’ Love it or hate it, he added, you’ll remember it. After befriending Disciples of Power during their stay in Ottawa around 1990, Darcy and Sean McArthur followed them back to Edmonton, where Fetus Aftermath was, uh, born in 1991. Returning to Ottawa, Darcy found guitarist Ray Fortier, who in turn recruited his drummer friend, Frank. A nice bonus about Frank was that he already had a rehearsal space in the CHEZ-106 building (126 York St.) — the mecca of the thrash and death metal scene in Ottawa at the time. In 1994, Fetus Aftermath recorded a demo at Rock’s Wonderland, just around the corner from CHEZ. The three-song cassette, called ‘The Alter’, was sold in Ottawa at Record Runner, but also distributed in other cities, with a clever distribution tracking technique: white labels for Ottawa, green for Montreal and red for Toronto. You can stream the full 1994 demo on YouTube [https://bit.ly/2D9L39i] or download it directly from F.A.’s old Angelfire (!!) website: https://bit.ly/2RxoQLm
According to their 2018 Meltdown interview, Fetus Aftermath had previously been to CKCU for an interview in 1994, to promote their demo. The band was drunk and a bit unruly, apparently; a real handful for the host: “We probably gave him a heart attack,” says Darcy in the recent sober and gentlemanly interview with Dmitri on Feb. 19th last year.
You can listen to the full Fetus Aftermath interview, with music and talk about the old Ottawa metal scene of the ‘90s, here: https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/56/36355.html. All three songs on the 1994 demo were re-recorded for their 1999 CD album on Withdrawl Records, ‘Everything Disgusting And Vile.’ The 1999 line-up of Fetus Aftermath has reunited and will likely re- appear on the Ottawa scene in 2019

With their strong heavy riffs set against the clarity of female vocals, the mysterious and enigmatic upcoming band Master Dy is a force to be reckoned with, when it comes to the iconic and characteristic genre of Power Metal. A strong and iconic team of musicians, the emerging band Master Dy has a strong theatrical component, approaches themes around metal and the occult in a comical way with heavy riffs, but a sweet and clean female voice. All set to captivate the world made their debut album release on February 26, 2021 With 11 splendid tracks, Master Dy managed to break into the genre and surprise listeners and critics with its release. Master Dy intends to produce and create music that inspires and excites spirits through the use of iconic Power/Heavy metal music.
Master Dy initially wanted to approach music through the theme used in black metal, because it’s ocultist and a bit revolted against the things that go wrong in a young man’s life, but then Dy Moob felt he didn’t want to do black metal and decided to do something more fun, it could be heard by the whole family and it wasn’t that heavy. Master Dy has been mainly getting inspiration from Ghost BC , a Swedish band awarded for their incredible hard rock performances in recent years, which has pulled crowds back to rock and heavy metal. Master Dy then sought inspiration in another theatrical band called Powerwolf who abuse synthesizers and riffs, and the iconic Alice Cooper who has always been a legend when it comes to bringing theatrics and Rock n Roll together. Now the next step is the single ‘ You Are Not Alone ‘ which was finished in the studio by Matt Dougherty ( Megadeth / Kobra and the Lothus ) and will be released by Label DyMM P&M on September 17th to give fans a taste, besides the band is already in the studio working on the next album that should be released at the beginning of the next year, what message will the band bring us this time?
2020 heralded the arrival of a highly revelatory year that forced humanity through the eye of the needle of consciousness to express the deeper delusion that exists within the current Dystopian state of the planet. This highly evocative album brings together a fusion of global energy’s to draw attention to this need for deeper liberation to come from within. On this album, we have returned to our hard rock roots to embrace the Dystopian state of our world and our desperate need for self-correction. So, the songs reflect this deep attitude to use high energy well-crafted songs with a real worldly message that will appeal to a broader audience. Ninety Two Degrees is a group that defies convention that has the purity of truth at its core and the members all understand the role they play.
The previous album «Post-Modern Dark Age» came in the autumn of 2019 and the band’s concert activities to promote the album in 2020 were interrupted and a performance during Trondheim Calling in 2020 was the band’s last concert before everything closed down. In 2021, there were signs of life again from Freedumb and an alternative EP version of the debut album The Freedumb Curse (2010) was released in a limited edition on 12 »vinyl with a silkscreen cover. In September 2021, “Get Away” came as the first single from the upcoming album “Social Hangover” and the song received an overwhelming reception internationally in the alternative rock / punk / metal press. Freedumb was started by Torstein Magnus Eriksen (Norsk Råkk, Friksjon), Ole Vanem (Knuste Ruter) and Thomas Walland Hansen (The Supervisors) in the winter of 2003 in Moss . In 2010, “The Freedumb Curse” came out on Tonehjulet Kräftpest, and Freedumb was selected for PYRO on NRK’s rating “Top 10 most promising bands in 2010”. The following year, guitarist Thomas Walland Hansen quit and Kim Trøbråten (Fork) joined. In 2016, the follow-up album “Feeding The Tapeworm” was released on Tonehjulet Kräftpest and Freedumb went on heir most comprehensive Norwegian tour. The band started recording a new album with producer Hans Tømmerholen (Bits Between) in the summer of 2017 .
